With the option to add up to 12 more chargers in the future, the airport is positioned to accommodate increased demand as tourism and traveler numbers rise.

Amteck and U.S. Army Forge New Partnership in PAYS Program

Lexington, KY – May 21st – Yesterday marked a significant milestone as Amteck, a leading electrical contractor based in Lexington, KY, officially partnered with the United States Army through the Partnership for Youth Success (PAYS) program. This collaboration aims to provide transitioning soldiers with enhanced employment opportunities, ensuring a smoother transition from military to civilian life.

The ceremony, hosted by the Kentucky Army National Guard, commenced with a warm welcome from the narrator, followed by the singing of the National Anthem by Ms. Mary Shaftner. Attendees were then seated as the event proceeded with an introduction to the PAYS program.

The PAYS program is a strategic initiative that links the U.S. Army with a diverse array of private industry, academic institutions, and government agencies. It guarantees participating soldiers and cadets five job interviews, significantly improving their employment prospects post-service. Today’s partnership was solidified through a Memorandum of Agreement, signed by Major General Haldane B. Lamberton, the Adjutant General of Kentucky, and Daren Turner, CEO of Amteck.

Major General Lamberton, who has an impressive military career spanning over 35 years with numerous operational deployments and prestigious qualifications, delivered remarks highlighting the importance of this partnership. Following General Lamberton, Mr. Daren Turner shared insights into his journey with Amteck, from working alongside his father, to leading the company through significant growth and innovation. Mr. Lorne Smith, Executive Vice President of Amteck and a veteran with a 32-year military career, also addressed the attendees, emphasizing the alignment between military discipline and the electrical contracting industry.

Dyersburg, TN, July 22, 2022 (Matt Noble) Amteck has achieved national recognition for its excellence in electrical design build, service, maintenance, and more. Now, with the innovative leadership at Dyer County Public Schools and the Tennessee STEM innovation Network, they are making plans to share their knowledge and experience with elementary students.

This exciting partnership began with STEM Coordinator, Crystal Lock. A teacher with over 20 years of experience, Lock reached out to the Amteck office in Dyersburg with an opportunity to collaborate. Regional Manager, John Densford, leapt at the opportunity. “I saw it as a chance to open students’ eyes to the wonderful opportunities in our company and in our community,” Densford remarked.

On Wednesday, leaders of Amteck and the Dyer County School System wrapped up a two-day strategy and content discussion regarding STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) content taught at the Dyer County Elementary School. Lock was Ecstatic: “I am so excited about this opportunity because one, [Amteck] is willing to work with an elementary school! I am a huge advocate for early STEM education. Two, getting some hands-on, field experience and suggestions on what we can do as educators to prepare future students to enter the workforce is really important.”

Amteck employees from every area of service spent time with Lock, explaining their day-to-day responsibilities and providing her with numerous examples of how they use STEM skills to accomplish their goals and tasks. Lock hopes to use simplified versions of these real-world examples as STEM projects for her students this coming year.

STEM programs help open the door of creative problem solving and practical application to students who may want alternative options to a liberal arts degree from a university. “A lot of times kids just hear “college, college, college” and planting this seed of excitement for something beyond,” stated Dr. Carolyn Tyler, Finley Elementary School Principal. “Amteck does not require a four-year college degree for most of their positions (even leadership roles), so it is important that students at every level are aware that they can have successful, well-paying, and fulfilling careers without going into debt,” said Jon Dougherty, Amteck’s Director of Education.

We believe that a strong safety culture is a driving force behind the quality and timeliness of our work. With over a dozen full-time safety officers on staff, our employees are constantly offered training on the latest and best practices in the industry.   

VP of Safety, Alonzo Shepherd, believes “all injuries are preventable with the proper planning and the proper amount of attention.” So, Amteck goes to great lengths to ensure every employee that steps onto a jobsite has completed:   

• A Safety education courses and passed a written exam  
• An electrical test before entering the field  
• Training and testing for any elevation equipment needed in the field  
• Reading the Amteck Safety Manual and signed off  

Safety knowledge is vital, and we want our employees to know that part of the Amteck Way is staying up to date with it. So, Amteck requires a minimum of 8hrs of safety and 8hrs of continuing electrical courses per year to maintain eligibility for a salary increase. Additionally, we require extensive OSHA training for our superintendents and foremen.

Amteck earns Award of Excellence for Weber Metals.

The project consisted of a complete design-build concept for a 115,000 s.f. square production building to house the 60,000-ton, pull-down forging press, which is the largest press serving the aerospace industry in the Western hemisphere. The machine is nearly 10 stories tall yet only one-third is visible – the other two-thirds are below ground level.  The titanium and aluminum component manufacturing facility allows Weber Metals, a wholly owned subsidiary of OTTO FUCHS, to produce the world’s largest monolithic forging components for the aerospace industry.[/custom_font][/vc_column]

(“CMI”). CMI is a South Carolina-based designer and installer of high-performance, structured cabling networks, and turn-key hardware solutions for non-residential clients. Amteck has worked closely with CMI on several projects in recent years, CMI currently has 75 full-time employees – all who will remain.
