Electrical Design & Build Services

Electrical Design & Build Services

The Amteck team utilizes a proven process when approaching a new electrical design and construction project, fine-tuned by years of experience but coupled with implementation of the latest technologies available. This foundation is complemented by superior customer service, which makes selecting Amteck as your premier electrical design-build partner the only choice.

The design-build process encompasses engineering, prefabrication, and building information modeling (BIM), which allows for quick and agile delivery of professionally engineered electrical designs compared to traditional design service offerings. Our team has adapted to the fast pace of modern construction and is in step with the construction team from start to finish. Additionally, the design team is flexible and responsive to address changes in scope during the design and construction phase while continuing to move forward and meet project deadlines.

Engineering

From corporate headquarters to manufacturing facilities and beyond, our engineers and designers relentlessly collaborate with general contractors, owners, subcontractors, and equipment suppliers. Our talented team of engineers and designers have an impressive range of backgrounds, enabling them to efficiently tackle design for new construction and existing building renovation or retrofit projects. Services include:

  • Complete cost analysis and value engineering
  • Power distribution systems design, including emergency backups
  • Electronic metering systems
  • Interior & exterior lighting design and control
  • Load analysis
  • Grounding design systems
  • Power factor correction savings analysis
  • Classified and hazardous area design
  • Instrumentation wiring design
  • Fire alarm design and certification
  • Short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies; equipment labeling

Virtual Design and Construction (VDC)

VDC is a process of creating and managing a virtual representation of the lifecycle of a project during the pre-construction and construction phases. The use of VDC software allows the creation and management of an accurate virtual construction of the electrical system, including all elements utilized on our projects, ranging from individual electrical components to conduit and hardware. An accurate representation of these elements generates a complete model for coordination purposes. This approach allows Amteck the opportunity to develop more accurate and detailed schedules, budgets, prefabrication designs, and more. Models are fractioned into individual work packages (IWP’s) to better facilitate our field personnel with coordinated construction drawings which create greater visibility into construction progress as well as performance. These IWP’s are reviewed with Model Verification Software to ensure that VDC designs are being followed. The data captured in this process is analyzed by Production Tracking software to develop installation rates, ensuring the project is aligned with construction schedules.

Benefits of VDC Include

  • Streamlines budget,  project management, and facility operations
  • Identifies possible design problems
  • Saves time

Prefabrication Services

Amteck’s Prefabrication Facility offers ready-to-install, UL compliant, assemblies that are designed and coordinated by our BIM/VDC Department utilizing DFMA principles. Prefabrication allows us the flexibility to accomplish work that would typically have to wait for GC schedules. This allows us to stay ahead of the game and more prepared on projects to make a bigger impact for our customers.

All assemblies are manufactured and all work is manufactured in a controlled atmosphere and function tested before being shipped to our job sites. This significantly speeds up the installation process to reduce time on job sites and improve the quality of all assemblies.

Prefabrication has proven to reduce the cost of labor and material, ensure savings for our customers, increase safety by completing work in a controlled environment with greater visibility to individual employees, and be more competitive in our field. Amteck strives to be the best electrical contractor it can be and our prefab facility is one step in achieving that goal.

Examples include:

  • Conduit Raceways
  • Light Fixture Whips
  • Control Cabinets
  • Conduit and Tray Trapezes
  • Hi-bay Lighting Rough-in (LTG, PWR, Data, FIre Alarm, LV)
  • In-Wall Rough-in
  • Underground Conduit Frames
  • Duct Banks
